A group of 10 Golden Retrievers and their handlers travelled from
Illinois to Newtown, Connecticut, to help comfort the grieving town and alleviate its shock following last Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. These
therapy dogs, sponsored by several Lutheran Church charities, are a special source of
support and will stay in Newtown all week. This team of volunteers was first put together after the Northern Illinois University attack in 2008
that took the life of five students. The pooches played a vital role in helping
students easy their pain and return to campus. The images on the video are more than eloquent.
